There are several methods of carpet cleaning including hot water extraction, bonnet cleaning, dry foam, and absorbent powder/dry extraction cleaning. The most common method used in the industry is hot water extraction cleaning. Why?

Advantages:

• Most carpet manufacturers recognize hot water extraction as the preferred method of cleaning their carpets. They feel that this is the most efficient method for removing soil.

• Today's equipment is much more efficient than equipment manufactured just 10 years ago, so productivity levels are on the rise.

• Less residue is left behind when compared to other methods.

• Relatively low chemical cost.

Disadvantages:

• Operators must be well trained, as operation of the wand requires a lot of skill.

• Longer drying times versus other carpet cleaning methods.

• Over-wetting problems can result if operator is not skilled, or if equipment isn't in proper working order.

• High maintenance costs if the equipment is not properly maintained.
